First the snow, now the risk of floods

Just like its riders, the TTC has figured out it needs to be better prepared during extreme weather. And, after much pressure from Beaches-East York Councillor Brad Bradford, Mayor Chow is also seeing the light about the sub-par city snow clean-up. The Mayor now understands “People are getting hurt, injured, they can’t get out, this is not working well.” Chow will release a public letter today about steps being taken to fix the situation.

President Trump still says the 25% tariffs are coming on March 4th. He says they’re “going forward” to make up for “abuse that took place for many, many years”, despite Canada and Mexico taking steps to strengthen their borders and deal with fentanyl trafficking.
Provincial parks, not state parks
CBC News reports that Google is updating its search and maps products to correct any provincial parks that have historically been listed as “state parks”. The company says it’s heard from hundreds of Canadians recently about the issue, and it pre-dates Donald Trump’s talk of Canada becoming the 51st state.

Nest egg check-in
How much should you have saved for retirement based on how old you are? Money.ca breaks it down based on estimates from Fidelity Investments. The article suggests a 40-year-old should have 3x their income saved, a 50-year-old 6x their income, and a 60-year-old 8x their income.
HEALTHY START
Why so many recalls?
Prevention Magazine looks at why there were so many food recalls last year, with a focus on the U.S. Researchers found there were 300 U.S. recalls last year, but just 13 of them caused 98% of the reported illnesses. A failure to provide proper sanitation, a lack of compliance with safety rules, and distribution of food before test results arrived were seen as potential reasons for the issues.
Safety first!
Most new cars have an electric button for the parking or hand brake, but what does that mean in the case of an emergency brake failure? A Telegraph reader asks the question and the answer is fairly straightforward. You just press the electronic button as you normally would and the parking/hand brake should activate and slow the car. Expect a sharp halt though, as these electric brakes are either on or off, and don’t ease on.
AND… ANOTHER THING!
