Fire closes Heathrow all day
Due to a fire at an electrical substation supplying the airport, Heathrow is experiencing a significant power outage.
To maintain the safety of our passengers and colleagues, Heathrow will be closed until 23h59 on 21 March.
Passengers are advised not to travel to the airport

Europe’s busiest airport is going to be closed all day after a fire at a substation that supplies power to the airport. More than 1,300 flights were due to go in and out of the airport today. As always, if you’re flying today, check ahead on your flight’s status.

Federal election call Sunday: sources

Prime Minister Mark Carney is expected to call a federal election on Sunday, sources say. The campaign will last between 36 and 50 days, so we’ll go to the polls either April 28 or May 5.
Another sharp increase in measles in Ontario
There’s been another sharp increase in measles cases in Ontario in the past week as the virus continues to spread among mostly unvaccinated people. Public Health Ontario is now reporting 470 cases of measles since the outbreak began in October - 120 cases since March 14th.
Vandals send Tesla a message
Hamilton police are investigating a “series of mischiefs” after dozens of Tesla vehicles were damaged at a local dealership this week. Up to 80 Tesla vehicles parked outside were found with deep scratches and punctured tires.
Most Cybertrucks recalled
Tesla is recalling most of the Cybertrucks on the road due to trim detaching from the vehicle. There are 46,000 of the trucks on the road so far.

A different kind of BOC forecast?

Canadians are a lot less happy than they were a couple of years ago according to the “World Happiness Report” which ranks us at 18th in the world. Last year we were #15 and a decade ago, Canada came in fifth place. The report places Canada in the “largest losers” of happiness over the last two decades. Finland came out tops for the 8th year in a row.

Order of Canada member wins $25M lottery
OLG says for the first time in its history an Order of Canada recipient has won a major lottery jackpot in Ontario. Charles Coffey won the $25-million Lotto Max draw on January 31st. Coffey received the order in 2003 for work that “has encompassed a broad spectrum of causes, including Aboriginal interests and women's entrepreneurship”.
