Plane crash report expected

CityNews reports that the Transportation Safety Board will release a preliminary report today on what happened in that Delta plane crash at Pearson earlier this year.  “It is important to note that at this stage in the investigation, it is too early to draw conclusions as to the causes of this accident based on this information,” the TSB said in a statement to CityNews.

Provincial cabinet unveiled

Doug Ford has unveiled his new cabinet and it looks a lot like the last one.  Most of the ministers are in the same or similar portfolios, and there are still 37 members.  The legislature will be called back on April 14th. 

China hits Canada with retaliatory tariffs

China executes four Canadians

Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister is condemning China after it executed four Canadians earlier this year who were charged with drug crimes. They were all dual citizens.

Trump and Zelensky talking again

The U.S. President says he had a “very good” phone call with the Ukrainian President, a day after having a call with his Russian counterpart. Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky showed some hope after the call saying he believes that “lasting peace can be achieved this year.”

Trump: Would rather deal with a Liberal

Donald Trump told Fox News that he’d rather deal with a Liberal than a Conservative since he thinks they’d be easier to deal with, but he doesn’t really care.  Regarding Pierre Poilievre Trump said: "The conservative that's running is, stupidly, no friend of mine. I don't know him, but he said negative things," he said. "When he says negative things, I couldn't care less."

Cheap loans to build rental homes

The federal government says it’s going to offer $2.55B in low-cost loans to help build rental homes in Toronto. In addition, the city is offering almost $235-million in relief from development charges, fees and taxes in order to get projects built.
